So, keep listening to Microsoft announcements. May be coming later this year, around November 2015. We have this link Download SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio 2015 but the installer doesn’t install any BI project template at all. Later I came to know that the Microsoft SQL Server team is yet to release proper SSDT BI Tools installer for Visual Studio 2015. VS 2015 doesn’t show up any BI project template in Create Project windows. But, I was surprised and, of course highly disappointed. Hence, my suggestion is don’t freak out when it shows SQL Server 2014 Business Intelligence tools. I created all types of project and deployed. Voila! I opened my VS 2013 up and all Business Intelligence project templates appear over there. I was in a fix to continue or not, but then I decided to go on. So, what does it mean? Can I do a BI project using VS 2013 and SQL Server 2012 or SQL Server 2008/R2? I downloaded the SSDT Tools installer for Visual Studio 2013 and, of course, I assumed it’s for SQL Server 2012 but it was for the SQL Serve 2014.
